Andreas Busemann

Chief Operating Officer, DB Fernverkehr AG

Andreas Busemann (46) has been appointed Member of the Board of DB Fernverkehr AG in November 2010. As the company’s Chief Operating Officer he manages the daily operation and maintenance of more than 1300 high speed and long distance trains throughout Europe.

DB Fernverkehr – as a subsidiary of DB Mobility Logistics AG – connects 150 German and more than 80 European destinations with safe and reliable train service. In 2011, more than 120 million customers travelled in ICE and IC trains of DB Fernverkehr.

After graduating (Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, TU Braunschweig), Andreas Busemann started his career at Siemens Verkehrstechnik. There, he held several positions from 1995 to 2004 including the management of the the rail automation business unit for North America with its head office in New York. From 2004 to 2007, he was President and CEO of the Siemens AG Rail Automation Division in Braunschweig.

In May 2007, Andreas Busemann joined DB Netz AG in Frankfurt (Main) as Chief Technical Officer (CTO). In addition, he acted as CTO of Deutsche Bahn infrastructure from July 2010.

Since 2008 Andreas Busemann is Fellow of the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers (IRSE).
