Manfred Scholle

Chairperson, University Board of the FernUniversität in Hagen

Dr. Manfred Scholle studied law and business administration in Berlin and Marburg. He completed his articles in Berlin and was awarded a Dr. jur. at the Philipps University in Marburg. In 1973, he worked for the Berlin Senate administration, acting, for example, as a personal aide to the Senator for Science and Art and for the Governing Mayor of Berlin. In 1981, he became a city councillor in Salzgitter and, in 1983, in Dortmund. From 1991 to 1998, Dr Scholle was director of the Westfalen-Lippe countryside association and then member of the board of VEW Energie AG. In 2000, Dr Scholle became Chairman of the Board of RWE GAS AG and, from August 2004 until October 2011, he was Chairman of the Board of GELSENWASSER AG. He is involved in the education sector, for example in the "Partners for NRW School" foundation and, until 2007, he was a member of the Board of Trustees of the current TU Dortmund. Dr Scholle has been a member of the University Board of the FernUniversität in Hagen since June 2008 and its chairperson since September 2010.
